How Municipal Court Warrants Work
Utah municipalities may establish Justice Courts for city ordinance matters. Those courts are separate from Sixth District Court and Piute County Justice Court. In Piute, the sources reviewed identify one county Justice Court contact and do not verify a separate town warrant portal or municipal clerk line.
Do not assume a town citation is handled by a city court. Ask the courthouse which court accepted the case and whether the warrant is active, recalled, or served.
Junction's Municipal Court Code Reference
The City of Junction presentation identifies Chapter 7, Municipal Court, in the city code. It does not establish an online warrant portal, current clerk, phone line, payment method, or court schedule.
The Junction government page is pictured for city context. Ask the Piute clerk whether a Junction ordinance citation is filed in a municipal Justice Court or county Justice Court.
The public page provides civic context, not warrant confirmation.
Municipal Courts Across Piute County
The four town profiles show different public clues, but none provides a verified warrant lookup. Junction city materials reference a Chapter 7 Municipal Court; the other town sources reviewed did not expose a municipal court or police warrant contact. Confirm venue with the county clerk.
| Town | Public court clue | Warrant route |
|---|---|---|
| Circleville | No local court or portal verified | Ask Piute clerk whether the citation is county Justice Court |
| Marysvale | Town office only; no warrant page located | Use BCI, Xchange, and the Piute clerk |
| Junction | City materials reference Chapter 7 Municipal Court | Ask which court holds the docket; no public portal found |
| Kingston | Public-body contact only | Do not treat town council contact as a warrant line |
Four Piute Towns Have No Verified Portal
The official Circleville, Marysvale, Junction, and Kingston sources reviewed did not provide a city police warrant search. The sheriff says it serves county areas and contract cities, but does not post a city roster. A local government phone can route a question without being the court that controls the case.
The statewide BCI search and Xchange remain the public starting points. Confirm a possible municipal ordinance case with the clerk at 435-577-2840.
Piute County Municipal Warrant Checks
Begin with the BCI statewide search, then search Xchange under Justice Court and Piute County. Add the name, birth date, citation number, and location when known. Call the courthouse at 435-577-2840 to identify the issuing court and current status.
- Search BCI's free statewide warrant entry; it is not a town-only lookup.
- Use Xchange to find the public case, narrowing by Justice Court, Piute County, and citation location.
- Call the clerk and ask whether a county, municipal, or District Court holds the case.
- Ask about the required appearance or filing. Piute does not have open court or a verified town walk-in desk.
Route a Piute Ordinance Citation
If a citation came from a town, search the public case using Justice Court, Piute County, the citation number, and the location. Then ask the clerk whether the issuing court is municipal or county. That step avoids sending a payment or motion to the wrong office.
If Xchange has no public result, ask about a written record request and whether the case is sealed, juvenile, or otherwise restricted. The court does not have open court, so get a setting before going to Junction.
Municipal Warrants: What They Show
A public case result may show county, court location, case type, case number, filing date, and case history. It may not show a current warrant status or every underlying document. Piute has no verified municipal warrant-number format, bond amount, or town payment portal.
| Case number | Ask for the actual identifier; no town warrant format was found. |
|---|---|
| Case type | Traffic, ordinance, or misdemeanor classification helps route the file. |
| Issuing court | Confirm whether the case is municipal, county Justice, or District Court. |
| Bond or fine | No local amount or payment channel was published. |
| Warrant status | Ask the issuing clerk whether it is active, served, or recalled. |
Town Hall Is Not a Piute Warrant Counter
Circleville's 435-231-1414 contact, Marysvale's town clerk and treasurer contacts, and Kingston's 435-577-2850 public-body number are civic contacts. They are not identified as warrant lines. Junction's reviewed site gives no verified warrant phone.
Ask the town only where a local ordinance record is filed. Use the Piute courthouse for case status and the sheriff for service questions; the office roles are separate even when a town and court share a small service area.
Clearing a Municipal Court Warrant
Have the clerk confirm the venue and current order before paying or appearing. Piute requires scheduled appearances rather than walk-ins. No town payment portal, warrant amnesty, local bond amount, or city recall form was found.
- Ask which court issued the warrant and whether it remains active.
- Confirm whether the judge requires payment, bond, a new setting, or a motion.
- Get the scheduled appearance or filing instructions before traveling.
- After the court acts, ask when BCI should update and confirm with the clerk.
Warning: The town contact is not a confirmed warrant desk; verify the court and case before paying, traveling, or arranging surrender.
Xchange Filters for Piute City Court Records
The Xchange instructions describe jurisdiction, case type, search scope, birth date, citation number, and citation location fields. A citation number is not unique statewide. Use county and location with it, then call the court to confirm any warrant status.
The Sixth District overview describes how Utah Justice Courts and municipal courts fit into the court system. It does not confirm that every incorporated town has its own court.
